Click for full size The area is made up of layers of sedimentary rocks. Students look for all the textbook sedimentary features. Rock scrambler's paradise. Holes form in the soft rock from the action of rain and wind. Mudcracks leave their fossilized impressions. Several horizons of mud can be found with the mudcracks easily visible. In addition to mudcracks, crossbedding, scour and fill, and graded bedding, you may be lucky enough to find this excellent example of ripple marks; the fossil remains of the riverbottom.
