Hiking up the trail
Students hike up the trail to the fossil bearing outcrops.

Taking Notes
At the outcrop, students take notes on what they see.

Urchin fossils
Fossils remains of sea urchins can be found.

This little clam seems to be either in a burrow or has it's siphon out.

A large number of invertabrate fossils can be found at this locality.


A typical fossil bearing lens which has weathered out of the sandstone.

Turitella
Turritella fossils are particularly abundant.

Views from the trail
Nestled between Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley, Long Canyon Trail is easily accessible and provides amazing views.
