Yellowstone
July 24

The sun is in my eyes!
Castle Geyser was going off again the next morning so we enjoyed yet another eruption.

That orange stuff is bacteria... ewww.
It's fun to watch it from different angles.

If you're downwind, you'll be drenched.
During it's steam phase, it makes it's own rain.

can we move on now?
This picture illustrates why Castle Geyser is one of my favorites.

Anemone Geyser: first step - rear bowl bubbles

step two; bubbling stops.... eerie.

Step three; water drains out.

Step four; water starts shooting out of front bowl.

It's really hot so be careful...

Step five; splashing stops and...

...water is quickly sucked back down the hole (this is the flush phase).

Step six: occasionally, a second wave of splashing occurs.

Step seven: Water is sucked down again as the rear bowl now fills.

Rear bowl is all full and cycle starts all over.

Natural enemy of those nasty squirrels.
This Osprey could be seen most days circling around the geysers.

Yes, I know, more geysers...
Beehive geyser is great to watch, the force of water is tremendous.

Please, no more geysers!
While watching it, you get the feeling the whole thing is going to explode!

Just had to put one more in, there's always tomorrow too!
Had to stop by Castle geyser one more time for a sunset.

I wonder if those clouds mean anything...
This is such a cool place!
